Compression: A progressive audiovisual piece based on the dread and fear around overpopulation and the manifestation of this reality. Split into four sections across sound, image and video, Compression is a series of group portraits that envision an overpopulated world through the lens of youth, serving as a reflection on the climate crisis. The portraits reveal a forgotten generation of young people against the backdrop of constricted space. Inspired by religious paintings from the renaissance period, and motivated by the human nature of a natural longing for connection, the sitters slip into the absurdity of individual character forced into collective belonging, a chaotic interplay of personalities that dance between romance and disorder.
